The main testing’s carried out on animals are:
·         Medical research
·         Pyschology research
·         Product testing

How are animal testings carried out?
The testing type which is mostly known and carried out is product testing on the animals. The animals have, sometimes harmful substances rubbed onto their skin and/or dropped into their eyes. These animals which are kept in labatories are also force-fed and are made inhale harmful chemicals and toxins.
Other testing which are carried out on animals include
Pain research - pain is inflicted on animals through electric shocks, animals being burned or scalded and injected with chemicals.
Warfare research - animals are shot, blown-up and poisoned with chemicals and gases.
Veterinary research- animals are tested for future veterinary treatments.
How many animals are used per year?
It is estimated that over 100 million animals are tested worldwide. That means 274,000 are tested per day, or three every second.
What animals are used?
Mice and rats are used for nearly every test because they are small, easing to house, and also easy to breed.  Rabbits, cats, dogs, horses, fish, guinea pigs, monkeys, reptiles, birds, pigs, sheep, cattle, chickens are also used.
Why is animal testing carried out?
Animal testing is carried out for a number of reasons, one being to test how harmful a substance is. Take for example shampoo. Shampoo says on the bottle that it is harmful if it comes in contact with eyes. How they know this is that they have tested this on the eyes of animals.
